Description: Amsterdam (Amsteldam), Hendrick Laurensz., 1647, large 8vo., half leather binding with marbled paper (rebound), the first title (in two parts) has foliated pages: [3]+287+276 ff., the second title has regular pagenumbers: [3]+78 pp., worn binding with some scratches and faded spots, faded title on spine, waterstains, smudges, some worming towards the end of the bookblock, the thick bookblock is fairly solid with clear printwork (a combination of gothic and roman fonts), the book has been cut with little to no top margin. Beautiful printer's mark on titlepage: Non Odit Tamen, some decorative initials and endpieces, with an engraved portrait of D. Zacharias Ursinus (1534-1583). Ursinus was a sixteenth-century German Reformed theologian and Protestant reformer. He became the leading theologian of the Reformed Protestant movement of the Palatinate. He is best known as the principal author and interpreter of the Heidelberg Catechism. Ex library copy: Bibl. Theol. School, Apeldoorn, Afgeschreven.
