When the VOC went bankrupt in 1799, Anthony van Hoboken took over a large part of the Dutch sailing trade, especially to the Dutch East Indies. Van Hoboken's trading house was renowned for its very high quality barks and frigates built on its own shipyard "Rotterdams Welvaren".
