Prof Van der Schroeff was a wellknown professor in economics (bedrijfshuishoudkunde) from 1945 to 1970 at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. He was notorious for these Sinterklaas poems. The University of Amsterdam faculteit Economie en bedrijfskunde awards a price every year to someone who has outstanding educational capacities and this price is names after Van der Schroeff.
