Vinkeles) and four more engravings by R. Vinkeles (one in each volume). Literature: De Haan, Adriaan Loosjes (Utrecht 1934); Koopmans, 'Van Kist tot Daalberg', in: Letterkundige studien over de negentiende eeuw (Amsterdam 1931) De Haan p.246; Saalmink II p.1183 l First edition, 4 volumes (of 4). A nationalistic historical noval, portarying the fictional Maurist Lijnslager as the examplary Dutchman. A reprint of 1812 was cancelled by the French authorities. A second edition wasn't publiched until the restoration of Dutch independancy in 1814. Handwritten ownership signatures from different periods: "Is. An. Nijholt", "J.H.B. Buisman Jr. 8/4 1944" and "R. de Ree 1974".
