First edition of De Rouck's work on heraldry, of which two more editions would be published in 1671 en 1673, but with different titles. It is the oldest and only Dutch work on heraldry until the mid nineteenth century. De Rouck developed a hatching system to convey heraldic colors in print. A table of this hatching system is found on page 55 of the second part. l Including: "Tweede deel des Nederlandtschen Herauld: ofte Korte beteeckeninghe der Konst-Woorden, ende Formulen van spreecken in Herauldie, door den selven autheur, Thomas de Rouck" (Leyden, Willem Christiaens vander Boxe, 1645). Printer's mark on title page, title page in red and black ink, decorated initials, Roman fonts (regular and italic) combined with a Gothic font.
