Description: The atrocities committed by the French troops in the Dutch villages of Bodegraven and Zwammerdam in 1672. Copy after Romeyn de Hooghe. Numbered on the bottom left:'N.2'. The hand of this engraver is much more heavy and less confident than that of de Hooghe, thus the posture and the gesture of the personnages are compromised. The characters are in fact more still, less dynamic, due to the too net contrast between light and shadows. l Etching on paper with small margins; plate mark: 182 x 297 mm, total: 206 x 316 mm.
