Petzold te Amsterdam 2 delen van 'Historie der kerken en ketteren van den beginne des Nieuwen Testaments tot aan het jaar onses Heeren 1688', vertaald naar een Duits werk van Godfried Arnold. Romeyn de Hooghe maakte voor deel I 18 geëtste portretten en voor deel II nog eens 10. Deel III was ongeïllustreerd en zou in 1729 verschijnen. De portretten geven de personen ten voeten uit, met fraai bijwerk. [EN] In 1701 the two volumes entitled 'Historie der kerken en ketteren van den beginne des Nieuwen Testaments tot aan het jaar onses Heeren 1688' were translated in German by Godfried Arnold. Romeyn de Hooghe etched for the first volume 18 portraits and for the second volume other 10. The third volume was not illustrated and appeared in 1729. The portraits are full length. The frontispiece was inserted before the title page and represent a standing woman (Theology ?) surrounded by historical characters. The title is inscribed at the bottom: [HISTORIE / DER / KERKEN / EN / KETTEREN / DOOR / GODFRIED ARNOLD]. The second copy of the frontispiece has been modified: the signature of Romeyn de Hooghe has been cut possibly from the title-page (which includes a small etched plate signed by the artist) and pasted on the name 'Godfried Arnold'. Also the upper part of the text was hidden. The only text left out reads 'KETTEREN DOOR / (R. de Hooghe I.V.D. Coll.
