Gaius Julius Phaedrus, ± 15 BC - ± 50 AD, said to be a Thracian slave born in Macedonia, living in imperial Rome under the Emperors Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula and Claudius. He is recognized as the first author to latinize books of fables, retelling in iambic metre Greek Prose Aesopic tales. Good to very good untrimmed copy, contents crisp and clean. Rare.
