Original limp wrappers, covertitle in bold black type. pp.97-128 [=32pp.]. 22 monochrome illustrations on a plate with descriptive text at tail margin, 30 monochrome illustrations on next plate, also captioned, both featuring technical instruments used ij movies and photography, 4 captioned monochrome plates featuring a Punan woman carrying her bany, 2 plates of rivers at sunset, Telok Bajur and Banjermassin, 1 of a Cave; 21 captioned monochrome illustrations in text, featuring Dayak mother and daughter with pierced and stretched earlobes, some other Dayak ethnic types (men), river-veiws with local traditional Dayak prahu, all after authors private photographs. Dutch language expert essay with practical information about the art of filming and photographing in tropical jungles, e.g.: the Jungle of the former dutch territory of Borneo, touching on a variety of topics on improving technical skills, incl. a descriptive illustrated account of tools to be applied. Author, although a professiona apothecary in Semarang, was far more than an average good filmer and photographer, in the 1930s. Tillema undertook a privately financed film/photo expedition to the Apo Kayan of Dutch Borneo, resulting in his photorecord Apo Kayan, further he produced some films about daily dife of the Apo Kayan, still present in holdings of the Leiden Anthropological Museum, illustrating life from by-gone days. Good copy.
