This german language edition represents a compilation of various german children's stories, originally published in 1845. Der Struwwelpeter or Slovenly Peter or Piet de Smeerpoets, a collection of funny storiesand whymsical pictures has a clear moral that demonstrates the disastrous consequences of misbehaviour in an exaggerated way. Stories describe a boy who does not groom himself and is consequently unpopular. Author's first story( 1845) appeared as his reaction to the lack of good children's books. Author was a psychiatrist who worked in a pauper's clinic, A great variety of editions have been published, incl. pastiches on the theme. Very good copy.
