Description: Amsterdam, RIOD, 1950. Small 4°., recent clothbacked original wrappers, stapled. 56pp. Black/white illustrations in text after original photographs, facsims. after archivalia (Dutch and Japanese public proclamations). ADDED A copy, A-4 sized, printed recto/verso, bi-lingual text, english/dutch, being a [provisional] Survey of the Indonesian Collection of the State Institute [of War documentation, RIOD), loosely inserted. Dutch language introduction to and translation of a pocket-diary as kept by the Japanese Imperial Soldier Kuniada Hahashinotoshi kept between Showa 16th-17th (December 4, 1941-9 March 1942), which includes expert comment by translator J.J.C.W. van Nooten. The Diary was found in 1946 and donated to the Dutch State Institute of War Documentation, RIOD. The diary also contained the Imperial Japanese Decrees of 4 January 1882 and 7 July 1938 and official regulations to the Battle-field. This issue also contains a contribution (pp.48-51) to warcrimes committed by Captan Imperial Japanese Army Sone(Sonei) Kenitji (Kenjichi), his trial and execution 7 December 1946, with some illustrations after authentic camp drawings. Very interesting. Good copy. (spine with a modern cloth strip, a bit dog-eared, paper a bit yellowing, NO signs of brittleness however).
