Dedication by author on title in ink, signed & dated Dec. 1933 The book has been dedicated to author's eldest son Jim, accidentally killed whilst rough shooting. Only 3 stories deal with family matters. The stories cover the period 1922-1932 & have originally been publ. in the Singapore Free Press & later in a probably very limited edn. (:) Johore Causeway, Hawkers, Benk-Benk, A Malacca Silloquy, The Passing of the Towkay, From a Malacca window, Lagi Satu Tanjong, The Malays of Pulau Brani, Undiscovered Singapore, etc. A rare publication (bds. somewh. shaved, contents very fine.)
