Herdershonden die in den verboden tijd losloopend woden aangetroffen worden onmiddellijk NEERGESCHOTEN. [signed in print at lower right corner) DE MURALT, Burgemeester. Public warning by command of the Mayor of Borculo municipality, Gelderland Province, ordering inhabitants to keep their Sheepdogs on a Lease between 18.00 hrs. a.m. to 9.00 hrs. p.m., shiipdogs running free within this period will be shot on sight. The order, restraining civil liberties, was a precaution to spread of rabies in Borculo, hit by a cyclone 10th August 192O, causing disarray and vast devastation. It was legal to issue such an order as a Mayor is also Head of local Police/Constabulary. Borculo Municipality is situated in Gelderland Province, Achterhoek region. Very well preserved indeed. A rare piece of memorabilia.
