A description of the legendary ancient oral history of the village of Tenganang, Bali, and her people, who are thought to be some of the original Balinese, or Bali Aga. Many of the Enganan traditions and ceremonies are found nowhere else on the island. The villagers are renownedfor weaving the exquisite Kain gringsing, or flaming cloth using the complex double ikat process. Once a year a contest of strenght and endurance for young men, the Pandan war, is held during the month-long Usaba Sambah ceremony. An interesting essay. Early scientific information is found in the famou study by V.E. Korn, Tnganan Pagringsingan (1933). Very good copy. Scarce.
