Description: Leiden, P. Somerwil, 1890. Large oblong 8°. Orig. cloth portfolio, title and an illustration of Emperor Charles V on his horse tooled in gilt on front boards, printed within an elaborate black coloured broad border in relief. Title-page incl. name-list of commissioners, [7]pp. of list of illustrations with extensive description to each illustration, 267 handcoloured ills. on 27 lithographed plates, with keys referring to description of illustrations on [7]pp., drawn and lithographed by G.J. Bos, executed by W.M. Trap, Leiden. ADDED: two facsims. after original charters presented to Emeror Charles V by Nijmegen municipality, with coloured coats-of-arms, upon the occasion of his State-entry to the city, loosely added. Costume cavalcade, has held by members of the Leidsch Studenten Corps, at 24th of June 1890, commemmorating the 315th anniversary of Leyden University, re-living the State-entry of Emperor Charles V (1500-1558), into Nijmegen municipality, the Netherlands, 9th February 1546. A good to very good and complete copy of this cavalcade. Rare.
