Youth story, set on a Sugar-Estate in ducht colonial nineteenth century Indonesia, with as main character a rich dutch sugar-planter, a so-called Sugarlord, his european 'Mandoor', a number of indigenous labourers and his favourite pet a big Orang-Oetan, called Jocko, well-trained to do simple household tasks. After an announcement that planter's wife and son will soon arrive on the estate a Slamatanis given and described. In the final stage of the story the Orang-Utan saves the life of the young son of the planter from a shipwreck. Good to very good copy. Scarce. (some wear to extremities of boards, especially to corners, some damage at top left margin of lower outer boards, contents good).
