Author describes Fröbel's Life & times, and strongly advocates Fröbel's educational theory to be integrated into the dutch educational system. Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel, 1782-1852, german pedagogue and son to a minister, got after his studies architecture, economy, acquainted with Gruner, leading a school according to the Pestalozzi educational system. In 1816 Fröbel founded his own educational institution at Griesheim, near Ulm. Great attentions was paid to physical education and lessons were interchanged with handicrafts (paper-board and wood-woork) and gardening. The system flourished, but unfortunately teachers were falsely accused of demagogic activities. In this period Fröbel composed his Magnum Opus:Die Menschenerziehung (1826), in which he [F.] argues that the first years of newborns are of utmost importance to later human education; education must be in harmony with natural development (:) appropriate training of the senses is necessary besides mental development, also by self-training, in order to reach inner harmony and creativity.
