Large 4°, cloth, gilt lettered, 240, (xl)pp., 83 coloured plates o.o.t. with captions, 369 text-ills., figures & diagrams (patterns), list of contents & material used (bamboo, rotan, pandanan & palmleaves, grasses, barkcloth, feathers, hair..), incl. directions for dyeing with Indonesian vegetable dyes (Indigo, Gambir). Still a standard work on Indonesian plaiting, braiding, basket-&wicker-work, incl. examples as found in the Outer-provinces. Vol. I of the series of 5 vols., complete in itself. (p.158 with some marginal soiling, lower inner joint weakening, some worming inside lower bds. in upper margin, spine sunned & somewh. rubbed, some minor spotting on lower pt. of upper bds., cor-ners lightly bumped, still a good copy however.)
