Description: Buckingham: Printed and Sold by J. Seeley, 1827. Small 4to (228 x 185 mm), vi, 81, [1]pp., 24 engraved plates, 2 folding plans of house and gardens and 10 floor-plans on 3 plates (some light offsetting), previous owners name name on title page struck through in ink, with contemporary pencil and ink notes to endpapers relating to the great sale of contents in 1848, also pasted at rear is the contemporary press cutting of the visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to Stowe in August 1840, marbled endpapers, cont. marbled boards, neatly re-backed, spine tooled in blind with green morocco label lettered in gilt. The Seeley's, both father and son both produced guides for visitors to Stowe which gives a history of the house and gardens and is full of architectural and artistic interest. This edition, with 24 new elegant views drawn and engraved by Thomas Medland, retaining only the two ground-plans from the earlier set of plates.
