Description: Leiden: S. et J. Luchtmans et C.C. van der Hoek. 1838. 8vo (222 x 132 mm), [vi], lxxv, [7], 408, [2]pp., lithographed portrait-vignette on title page, Dutch and Latin text, title a little browned and spotted, a few contemporary neat round tax tamps in the text, nineteenth-century cloth-backed marbled boards. Auction catalogue of the library of Reuvens (1793-1837), professor of Greek, Latin and archaeology at Leiden. The numbering in the catalogue is rather complicated, but it contains over 5,000 lots and is especially rich in law, theology, philology, geography, science and archaeology. The catalogue was written by Conradus Leemans who also wrote the 75 page introduction in Latin which is a biography of Reuvens. The library was auctioned over 13 days in October 1828 by Luchtmans and van der Hoek in Leiden.
