First Edition, 4to, one of 200 copies, a good ex-library copy, coloured frontis., 68 plates (of which 7 are in full colour), orig. cloth, spine faded, tears to head and foot of spine. A clear and very fine reproduction of Rivière's bindings, many of which display disturbing images of snakes and skulls. Riviere seems to have been heavily influenced by the East at this time. An excellent study of the work of this fine binding firm.
