Incorporated into the team as a biostatistician, Routil's responsiblity was to analyze the previously compiled measured data.... Routil concluded...the inhabitants of Marienfeld have the physical peculiarities of their Southern German ancestors to this day. Routil welcomed 'racial hygiene protective measures as a preventive method to eliminate any defective genetic sequences particularly harmful to the Volksgemeinschaft'...Routil's work in the (Marienfeld) project seems ambivalent and was possibly opportunisitc. He was rated ' a heretic of the fatherland' by some...though he clearly took a Nazi conformist, racialist stance in his study of the project published in 1942" - from: Turda & Weindling "Blood & Homeland: Eugenics & Racial Nationalism in Central & Southeast Europe 1900-1940"].
