Title: a handwritten letter with two attachments, concerning a biography of Henry Miller, dated 15 juin 1977
Description: Eaubonne [France], 1977. 30x20cm, 3 pages. THREE PAGES.. Some creases. VG. ¶ This is a handwritten letter of two sides, 21 lines, approx. 140 words, without salutation but in all certainty sent to the American author Henry Miller, concerning a biographical study of Miller that had been rejected for publication by Christian de Bartillat of the Parisian publishing house Editions Stock. With two photocopies of letters from Editions Stock and Editions Buchet / Chastel attached, one of which bears Hemmert's sarcastic inked commentary. With Miller's handwritten note "file" inked on two of the pages. Reads in part: "Il aurait fallu à Ch. de Bartillat 6 mois de ré flexion pour m'envoyer la lettre ci-joint. Entre temp il m'avait présentée [illegible] d'un débût public son votrer oeuvre comme un écrivain-maison L'Edition Francaise n'est qu'un immonde tas de merde et d'hypocrisie...J' ai commencé un manuscrit son: Colette - Boris Vian - Le Jazz...".
