Ceased publication in 1971. The German SDS was the only German non-party socialist university organization, and saw itself as part of the international New Left and from 1966 as part of the West German Extra-parliamentary Opposition (APO), advocating anti-authoritarian socialism. It had a major influence on the West German student movement of the 1960s.
