Ponroy's father - Jean-Sylvain Ponroy - was a lawyer from Issoudun who presumably belonged to the consortium of conservatives - 'les reactionnaires de Chateauroux', according to Maxime Rude...who provided the paper with its financial backing and were to determine its political orientation..." - 'Baudelaire and the Second Republic' by Richard D.
