["...Sometime in late September or early October 1848, Baudelaire was offered the post of redacteur en chef of a newspaper that was about to appear in Châteauroux subtitled 'Journal des principes d' ordre et de conservation'...Baudelaire appears to have owed his post to the initiative of Arthur Ponroy, like Viard a contact from his Corsaire- Satan days. Ponroy's father - Jean-Sylvain Ponroy - was a lawyer from Issoudun who presumably belonged to the consortium of conservatives - 'les reactionnaires de Chateauroux', according to Maxime Rude...who provided the paper with its financial backing and were to determine its political orientation..." - 'Baudelaire and the Second Republic' by Richard D.
