This work, in the series of mediaeval texts edited by Hearne, was erroneously attributed by him, to Thomas Sprott (a monk of St. Augustine’s Canterbury, fl.11270) whose chronicle (later used by William Thorne and Thomas Elmham - see Gransden 11/346) is now lost. The present work is a chronicle of general history from the creation to 1339 with a number of "Fragnenta Sprottiana" from a MSS of Sir Edward Dering but the originals of these works have not been located.
