Discreet ‘Knox Collection’ stamp to reverse of title, several leaves carelessly opened thus with minor marginal loss, occasional light creasing, light browning, some pencil ruling to margins, original gilt lettered red cloth, some soiling and discolouring, corners sl. frayed, recased. ¶ Detailed account of Fiji and Litton Forbes's journey to the Kingdom of Fiji before its annexation by Great Britain in 1874. Of particular note is Forbes's description of Ratuma, an island group 500 miles north of Fiji that was a whaling and pirate re-provisioning hub, before also being annexed by Great Britain in 1881.
