[Lacking half title and appendix pp.57-72.] Light age toning, disbound with remains of calf backstrip. ¶ ESTCT 121519. As a result of this speech Dallas, a prominent Company civil servant and later a Baronet, was deputed by the residents of Calcutta to present a petition against Pitt's East India Bill which transferred power from the East India Company to the Crown. Dallas was said to be the author of the poem The India Guide, the most successful piece of creative writing published in Calcutta before 1800.
