Light browning with staining and spotting to plates, e.ps. sl. marked with sm. diagram to front pastedown, gilt tooled dentelles, contemporary gilt rule edged red straight grain morocco, some darkening and soiling, gilt ruling with gilt motifs and gilt lettered title label to spine. ¶ ESTC T68900. Written as an epistle to Mr. Cuthbert Jackson, apparently Green did not intend it to be published. First appearing posthumously in 1737, Pope praised its originality, and Gray expressed a warm admiration for it.
