Unopened in parts, p.1 lightly browned, some minor soiling to extremities of a few leaves, disbound, loosely inserted in modern paper wrapps. with paper title label and booksellers ink stamp to upper wrapp. ¶ From the Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Volume IX. According to DNB this paper by Thomas Lauder Dick (1784-1848) was the first that drew the world’s attention to the extraordinary parallel roads of Glen Roy. In this paper, he conclusively proves that they were a natural feature, ‘the result probably of the action of a lake.’ The splendid engravings and map were engraved on copper by William Miller after the authors own drawings.
