First very rare edition.Wealthy Honsinger Fischer (1879-1980), American Methodist educational missionary in China and India. She first came to China in 1906 and became headmistress of the Bao Lin school in Nanchang. She was committed to the idea of women's independence, and she wanted to encourage her young girls through their education to become new, modern Chinese women. This diary provides an interesting and sympathetic picture of life in China, then a country between the old traditional empire and the emerging modern Westernised China. Not in Robinson.
