First English edition translated from the Swedish (1937).Sten Bergman, Swedish zoologist and explorer, who led major scientific expeditions to the Far East. In 1935, Bergman and a conservator, Harald Sjöqvist, travelled via the Trans-Siberian Railway to Korea. The aim of the expedition was to study the birds found in the northern parts of Korea. Bergman also collected specimens for the Natural History Museum and the Ethnographic Museum in Stockholm. This is the travel diary with fascinating stories about Korean life, hunting, fishing, festivals, temples, etc., richly illustrated after Bergman's photographs. A very good copy of a scarce title, especially with the dust wrappers.
