He was a Sanskrit poet and dramatist widely regarded as the greatest Indian writer of any epoch. Much of his life is unknown but it's believed he lived in the 5th century.Antoine-Le—nard de Chézy (1773-1832) was a French orientalist, pupil of Silvestre de Sacy, who became a pioneer of Sanskrit in Europe. He was an Arabic and Persian scholar who taught himself Sanskrit from the manuscripts at the Bibliothèque Nationale. He was appointed the first professor of Sanskrit at the Collège de France (first of its kind in Europe). Today he is almost forgotten and in the shadow of his talented students Eugène Burnouf, Franz Bopp and Othmar Frank to mention a few. Ref: G.
