Contains an accurate description of Constantinople at the time and an account of his travels to Syria, Lebanon, the Holy Land and Jordan between 1820-22. An appendix (70 pp.) deals with plants collected by Berggren and defined by the Swedish botanist Göran Wahlenberg.
