Title: 1952 Hand Made Sewing Instructional Binder/ Scrapbook
Description: 0. Hardcover. Ill.: Winold Reiss - Inscribed. Scrapbook, Marcia Tyler's 1952-53 semester-long log describe, step by step, the clothes she constructed using commercial patterns.  The journal is a deep dive into mid-twentieth century America's muscular educational expectations of excellence - even in nonacademic curricula. Marcia kept a time log for each step; she projected material cost & price compared equivalent store-bought items. Cloth samples, stitching pattern samples, and sketches fill in the back story of each garment. Her submissions were graded on construction, appearance and time to complete. Based on her output and her grades, it appears to have been an ambitious and quite a rigorous semester for Marcia Tyler in 1952. Her instructor is exacting. Marcia's grades & the instructor's 'red pencil' are stringent but fair. 11.5"x10" three ring binder; 22 leaves+ additional notes. Very nice condition. . Very Good.
