Title: 1918 Working Ships & Sailors
Description: 0. Hardcover. Photographic Image, c1919 SS Sylvan Arrow was a steam-powered Arrow-class bulk oil tanker built in 1917-1918 for the Standard Oil Company; with the intention of transporting oil and petroleum products between United States and ports in the Far East. Excellent vernacular photos of this storied oil tanker from it's earliest voyages. The snapshots are mostly 3"x5". 43 pages, (148) b&w PHOTOS- showing working seamen and seascapes/ shipyards/ family portraits/ landscapes and more. Several photos of one working sailor on board ship, and also with his (presumed) family in a comfortable pastoral setting. The leather-bound album presents well- oblong 10"x 13.5". All (43) pages filled. Album's interior & glued in photos are in good condition. Leather covered boards have the residue of an old dampstain, and the spine & hinges have been reinforced. Good.
