Printed in Nuremberg in 1498, this remarkably well preserved leaf shows the fine and clear Gothic type and the early printer's attempts at conforming to the manuscript appearance by the simulated rubrications. Koberger, the godson of Albrecht Durer and contemporary of the equally famous Aldus was one of the more enterprising printers of his time, having twenty-four presses and employing about 100 people; an organized book manufacturing concern within just a few years of the beginning of printing! Approx. 8.5x12.5. Good.
