Foreword and eight bright and vivid color panels with fully functional moveable parts, with accompanying text. Some expert repairs and some occasional minor foxing. Publisher's color pictorial boards, expertly rebacked to style with black cloth, lower corners slightly creased, endpapers replaced. A very good example of a scarce Meggendorfer movable. This first edition was followed by an English edition in 1890 and then the second German edition in 1900. Apparently several of the plates were changed for the English edition. The plates: 1. Der Kapellmeister (The Conductor) 2. Der Paukist (The Drummer); 3. Der gefoppte Jger (The Teased Hunter); 4. Der schlaue Fliege (The Smart Fly); 5. Das Zwerglein (The Dwarf); 6. Gerechte Strafe (Fair Punishment); 7. Der Angler (The Fisherman); and 8. Die Schildkrte (The Turtle). .
