Very good. - sc - A 36 inch high by 24 inch wide color poster by the Quebec artist Marcellin Dufour for Earth Day 1993. This official Earth Day 1993 poster is illustrated with an abstract image which hints at faces floating among graffitti, waste and cellular life. "Earth Day 1993" is boldly printed in green under the image followed by the artist's name "Dufour" printed in blue. The "Official Seal of the Earth Society Foundation / Official Earth Day Poster" is at bottom left and the logo of "Grace Park / Proud Earth Day Sponsor" is at bottom right. Credits are printed along the bottom left. There is a crease to the top right corner and a scratch and short tear to the bottom edge. The Canadian artist Marcellin Dufour was born in the Saguenay region in 1946. The self-taught Quebecois artist began to paint at the age of 15 and became a High School art teacher in 1967. He illustrated Felix Leclerc's "Adagio" in 1970 and by 1975 dedicated himself to exclusively pursuing his painting career. Ever evolving, the artist who was often referred to as the "painter of light", focused more and more on the abstract with intimate organic compositions. In an essay about the exhibition "Dufour Metamorphose" The Yvonne L. Bombardier Cultural Center wrote the "The United Nation Organization will choose one of his works to illustrated about education, science and culture the Earth Day poster for the UNESCO in 1993.
