Very good. - Octavo, 9-7/8 inches high by 6-1/2 inches wide. Softcovers, unbound as issued with loose signatures laid into printed paper wrappers. The covers are slightly darkened. [iv] & 20 & [1] pages, including a 4 page "preliminary" and a facsimile of the original title page at the end. Very good. The first edition of this work was published in 1685 and is extremely rare. In 1896, the "Club of Odd Volumes" published a reprint in an edition of 100 copies which are also rare. As quoted from the editor's "Preliminary" to this reprint "The pages of the Elegy are numbered from one to twenty, but by an oversight of the printer page seventeen was omitted, and the text covers but nineteen pages, each of which abounds with curious and interesting notes by the author." Also, according to the "Preliminary", "This re-print is, page for page, and line for line, similar to the little volume in the library of Brown University... Very good .
