Description: Normal School, July 18, 1871. 1871. - A brief quotation penned on a 7-5/8 inch high by 4-3/4 inch wide page from an autograph album. The inscription reads: "Good books are our best friends", signed in full "J. Willis Westlake" and dated from the "Normal School / July 18, 1871" in his hand. The page was apparently removed from an album with tiny stab marks along the left edge. Near fine.

The text book writer James Willis Westlake (1830-1912) was the author of "How to Write Letters: A Manual of Correspondence". Very good .
