There are creases to some of the protruding shaped edges. The spine is rubbed with a two inch long split at the bottom. 16 pages including the covers, illustrated with full color wrappers, a full page color illustration of a cat dressed as a "Highwaycat" [highwayman], 5 additional pages of color illustrations, and black & white vignettes on the remaining pages. The rear cover features a young girl holding a kitten. There are some very minor tiny chips to the edges of a couple of leaves. A very good attractive book.
RARE ORIGINAL EDITION, predating the Springfield, Mass edition.
Dated from the "McLoughlin Bothers' Eighty-Third Annual Catalogue" of 1911. McLoughlin Bros. No. 151. Two of the illustrations are signed in print by Louis Wain and one is signed W. Foster.
It is important to note that this edition of "Pussy Cat Capers" published by McLoughlin Bros. is an earlier variation of the book that appears in WorldCat. The copies found in WorldCat were published in Springfield, not in New York. The publisher moved to Springfield, Mass. in 1920 after its sale to the Milton Bradley company. The Springfield copies have 4 fewer pages and are numbered "270". Good .
