"One of the least explored zones of Saqqara is that vast low tract along the western margin of the Necropolis and stretching south of the Serapeum. While undertaking a minute investigation of that area in September, 1951, I noted a vast, oblong, artificial terrace which lies at a distance of about 144 m. to the south-west of Djoser's enclosure and extends from north to south. This terrace is situated in the south-east corner of an area which is bounded on the east by Djoser's western enclosure wall and the pyramid of Unis and on the west by the great enclosure found by Jaques de Morgan and subsequently worked on for one season (1947-1948) by the late Abdessalam Hussein." - from the introductory text. Very good .
