Description: Boston: American Tract Society, 28 Cornhill, Boston, [1842-1868]. [1842-1868]. - Tricesimo-secondo (32 mo), 5-3/4 inches high by 3-3/4 inches wide. Hardcover, bound in violet (faded to tan) pebbled cloth with the initials "ATS" embossed on each cover. The covers are rubbed & soiled and the head and tail of the spine are lightly chipped. 63 pages, illustrated with 2 plates including a frontispiece. There is occasional minor soiling & spotting to the pages. Very good.

Scarce.

The American Tract Society published at 28 Cornhill in Boston from 1842 to 1868. The author, Philip Bennett Power entered the ministry of the Church of England in 1846. He served congregations in Leicester, Holloway (in London), and Worthing until 1865.

The illustrations, which are attributed to John N. Hyde, feature Kitty learning to knit and Kitty knitting by the roadside. Very good .
