The Rose Valley Association was formed in July 1901, under the leadership of Wlll Price, to start an arts and crafts project. The association did not produce arts and crafts itself but rented out working space to craftsmen, provided them with housing and helped sell what they produced. Price's vision may have been modeled on the utopian socialist society described in "News from Nowhere" by William Morris.
