Seven volumes bound in red cloth titled in gilt on the spines, in color illustrated black dust wrappers. The top edges of volumes 2 through 6 are stained in red and that of volume 7 is white with a red line. The numbers printed on the dust wrappers' spines of volumes 3 through 7 are printed in red while those on the first 2 volumes are in white. There are but minor flaws to the dust jacket's with a tiny tear to the head of the second volume's jacket's spine. The dye along the top edges of a few volumes is slightly faded. The pagination is as follows: volume 1: Color frontispiece, pages [i]-xxix, [9], 1-579, [5], and 16 pages of black & white plates; volume 2: pages [i]-xxv, [3], 1-691, [1], and 16 pages of black & white plates; volume 3: pages [i]-xxv, [3], 1-762, [8], and 16 pages of black & white plates; volume 4: pages [i]-xxiv, [4], 1-627, [1], and 16pages of black & white plates; volume 5: pages [i]-xxxiii, [3], 1-686, [14], and 24 pages of black & white plates; volume 6: pages [i]-xxxii, [2], 1-645, [1], and 16 pages of black & white plates; and volume 7: pages [i]-xxvi, [4], 1-683, [7], and 16 pages of black & white plates. Altogether the set is illustrated with a color frontispiece portrait, a double-page Lawrence Genealogy, 26 pages of maps and 119 black and white plates. Very good. First editions.
