A member of the Democratic Party Elihu Emory Jackson (1837-1907) was the 41st Governor of Maryland. Jackson attended the ceremonies at Gettysburg Battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania dedicating regimental and battle monuments honoring engagements participated in by the Union Army as well as visiting Confederate States Army monuments.
