Full brown morocco leather titled and decorated in gilt with raised bands on the spine and with gilt rules framing the front and rear covers. All edges are gilt. The book is housed in a marbled cardboard slipcase. The book's spine is lightly rubbed and slightly faded. The edges of the rubbed slipcase are worn with minor cracks to the extremities. [vi], 262 & [2] pages, with the text printed in black within sienna ruled frames under sienna-toned headings. Illustrated with sienna-toned vignettes and decorations. Near fine in a good slipcase. Father Charles Laurent was a member of the "Marist Brothers of the Schools" Catholic society. The Marist Brothers, are a community of Roman Catholic brothers whose purpose was to educate neglected young people. Scandal rocked the community in recent years as the Marists covered up sexual abuse of children at schools in Chicago, Scotland, Chile, and elsewhere. The Marist Brothers kept a secret list of 154 Marist Brothers who were accused of being child sex offenders between 1980 and 2015. Very good .
