One of the first asbestos factory towns in America, Ambler, Pennsylvania was home to the Ambler Asbestos company founded by Dr. Richard Mattison and Henry Keasbey in the 1880's. What had started as a patent medicine company became a producer of asbestos products when Mattison discovered how to make pipe insulation with magnesium carbonate and magnesium.
