Rebound into decorated boards backed with a brown cloth spine with the original paper cover mounted onto the front board and a holographic title label on the spine. The covers are rubbed, soiled and stained. [v], vii, [i] & 514 pages. The top edges of the pages are lightly darkened and there is occasional soiling. The front edge of the first few leaves are bumped and there is an inscription boldly penciled on the front endpaper. Good.

The German economic and social historian Georg Martin Caro (1867-1912) studied with Harry Bresslau in Strasbourg where he completed his Ph.D. thesis in 1891. He traveled and resided in Italy before teaching at Zurich University. Focusing on medieval and modern economic history in Italy and Central Europe he published works on the subject. His unfinished work "Sozial - und Wirtschaftsgeschichte der Juden in Mittelalter und der Neuzeit" published in 2 volumes in 1908 through 1924, contributed to Jewish historiography and was subsequently translated into Hebrew. Good .
